Microsoft inks new deal with Viacom
A recently-inked deal between Microsoft and Viacom promises to continue the influx of films and TV programs from Viacom-owned studios and networks onto the Xbox Live Marketplace. Interestingly enough, the same deal also includes the development of casual games for Microsoft’s casual gaming platforms, including Xbox Live Arcade. More at the full article.
A “strategic alliance” between Microsoft and Viacom should lead to more downloadable content for Xbox 360 owners over both the Xbox Live Marketplace and Xbox Live Arcade. This according to video game news website 1UP.
The recently-announced deal will include long and short-form TV shows from Viacom networks, which include MTV and Comedy Central as well as BET, a new addition to the Xbox Live Marketplace. No specific shows have been mentioned so far, though. An influx of films from Viacom’s Paramount Pictures will also continue.
Interestingly, the deal also includes Viacom providing downloadable games for Microsoft’s casual gaming platforms including Xbox Live Arcade. There have been no details released yet, but they’ll most likely be based on Viacom properties.
