With 2007 coming to a close in a few more days, Midway is all set for next year’s upcoming releases, but not without some changes to their marketing stance. In a recent interview, Midway CEO David Zucker revealed his game launch strategy for 2008 as “fewer, bigger, better.”
It also looks like “starstruck” should be in there as well, based in Midway’s plans to launch games with heavy Hollywood tie-ins. Zucker reiterated on the recent success for Stranglehold (PC, PS3, Xbox 360), which he states has sold a total of one million copies since its launch last October.
Moving on to Midway’s 2008 launch plans, Zucker talked about the upcoming Wheelman title which would prequel a similarly named film starring Vin Diesel. The rights for the film adaptation have been bought by MTV Films and Paramount Pictures.
Zucker then discussed their other game projects for 2008, which include NBA Ballers (Xbox 360, PS3), and TNA Impact (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii), the latter being based on Spike TV‘s pro-wrestling program of the same name. Midway is further expected to launch a new Mortal Kombat title by the end of 2008.
