Next-Generation Graphics
Source: IGN
Matt, there’s a debate on the boards that Zelda looks as good as the next gen games. what do you think?
Matt responds: Twilight Princess looks great, but in my humble opinion it’s not on the same visual level as some of the early graphical powerhouses on next-generation systems. I’d say all of the following games are more beautiful than the new Zelda for different reasons. (And I’m not trying to downplay Zelda’s beauty — it’s just hard to compete when developers are working on more powerful hardware than GameCube.) But before I list them, a note: all of the following images are running in real-time on Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3. So-called “real-time representations” like the Killzone PS3 demo have been excluded from my list because there’s no proof that these examples are anything but renders.
Too Human: Part 1 for Xbox 360
Resident Evil 5 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion for Xbox 360 and PC
Heavenly Sword for PlayStation 3
Project Gotham Racing 3 for Xbox 360
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter for Xbox 360
Alan Wake for “next-generation consoles” and PC
So there you are. Just a couple of examples. You can click on any of the above images for larger versions and I highly recommend that you check some of these games out in motion, too, for they look pretty damned nice. We should have videos for most of them on the respective channels.
