Some of you may still remember the futuristic retro fashion sense of reporter Ulala from Sega‘s Space Channel 5 when she first came out on the Dreamcast in 1999. The funky fresh diva was a very memorable icon on the short lived console when she offered a very unique kind of rhythm game to players at the time of its release.
However, according to the N-Zone magazine, there’s been word that the space reporter will be making a comeback on the next-gen platform, platform shoes and all, to kick up the dance floor once again for the Nintendo Wii console.
While this won’t be the first time that the game title will be remade on another console, its possible port to the Wii platform should make veteran players feel right at home with the next-gen console’s intuitive motion sensing controls. In fact, game designer Tetsuya Mizuguchi had positive remarks to say about the possibility of a Space Channel 5 sequel on the Wii, so the idea of it hitting the next-gen console should be too far off.
However, this bit of news is still up in the air according to N-Zone. Time will only tell if Nintendo will be employing the services of Ulala and Michael Jackson (yes, he actually makes a cameo in the game) in a future rhythm-based title for the Wii. Stay tuned for more updates as we get them.
