Jack Thompson preparing next move against Grand Theft Auto IV
It is almost a given that any updates regarding Grand Theft Auto IV (Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3) is going to be accompanied by a comment or a legal action from controversial lawyer Jack Thompson. True enough, we can expect another one soon.
According to our sources, Thompson contacted Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum to help him in this renewed call against the title. See the complete details by clicking the “read more” link below.
In case you missed it, Rockstar North and publisher Take-Two Interactive has finally confirmed the new release date for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of much-awaited game Grand Theft Auto IV last week.
However, as much as this is a good development for the fans in general, the announcement didn’t escape the sharp eyes of the controversial lawyer Jack Thompson. Here’s a part of what seems to be JT’s own predictions on the matter (though speaking in the third person perspective) from Game Politics’ account:
Take-Two shares have jumped approximately 12% today on this news. What the market is not factoring in, however, is the downside risk coming Take-Two’s way with the sale of this “Mature” game to kids, which is a murder simulator for violence against women, cops, and innocent bystanders.
Thompson will, in the days and weeks ahead, be contacting state and federal officials to stop the improper sales of Grand Theft Auto IV to anyone under seventeen years of age, as any such sales violate state and federal fraudulent and deceptive trade practices statutes.
Indeed, Thompson has today contacted Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum, who has supported ThompsonÂ’s efforts in the past.
Both Rockstar and Take-Two, on the other hand, have yet to comment on this development. But if nothing big happens similar to the whole Manhunt 2 fiasco, fans can truly expect to get their copies come April 29.
