Rumor: PS3 getting the slim treatment?
Rumors of the PlayStation 3 getting the slim treatment this Autumn have surfaced. Everything’s just pure speculation at this point, but could this redesigned PS3 be the same as the 160GB model? How plausible is it though, considering every other PlayStation model out there’s gotten a slimmer design? More in the full article.
Let’s have a bit of a walk down memory lane. The PlayStation, released in 1994, got a redesign in 2000. Likewise, the PlayStation 2, which came out in 1999, got a redesign in 2004. The PSP, first released in Japan in late 2004, got redesigned last year.
That little trip brings us to the PlayStation 3, Sony‘s newest home video game console. Gadget website T3 has reported that according to “a particularly well-informed insider,” Sony is supposedly readying an all-new slimmer and lighter PS3. Rumored release date? This Autumn.
It’s not that surprising really. Come on, you expected it to happen. What is interesting though is that this PS3 redesign and the rumored 160GB PS3 could turn out to be one and the same. Of course, Sony’s still keeping their “no comment” policy on the whole 160GB PS3 deal, but then they pretty much do that for everything.
