In an interview with Bloomberg Japan, Square Enix president Yoichi Wada mentioned a few interesting details regarding Dragon Quest IX for the DS and what he wants to see from his company.
Wada stated that Dragon Quest IX is nearly done. He said that Square Enix and the developers from Level 5 are now tweaking the Wi-Fi online mode, and the single player mode’s gameplay balance.
Despite the fact that the game is in its final phases, the president of Square Enix made clear that the game will not be rushed. To drive home the point, he didn’t give out a release date for the highly anticipated title.
Another interesting fact that came out during the interview is the direction Wada wants to take with the company. He said that he wanted to see Square Enix produce more Wii games and that the Wii download business model has caught his interest.
It might be interesting to note that Square Enix is slated to release Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Young King and the Promised Land on WiiWare next month in Japan. Could it be that Square-Enix plans on releasing more titles on WiiWare? We can only hope.
