Gearbox Software working on its biggest project to date
Gearbox Software has done a lot of accomplishments in the past and has a lot of successful titles under its belt. How would you feel now if the company says that it is working on its biggest and most ambitious project to date?
Well, we are pretty sure that you will be ecstatic because that’s what exactly what we felt. To know more about this, read the full article to read what company president Randy Pitchford had to say about the project.
Gearbox Software President Randy Pitchford announced over at their company’s forums site that they are currently looking for a high-caliber senior artist that will be working for them on a new unannounced project.
But the curious thing about Pitchford’s post is that it seems that the next project is really going to be huge, probably bigger than any of their previous works. The president even said so himself:
IÂ’ve started a new project. ItÂ’s big. ItÂ’s, like, “look at our line up and imagine something even-bigger” kind of big. IÂ’m Directing it myself. I can’t mention it publicly yet.
When you find out what this is, you’ll likely agree that I can’t oversell this one.
Given the portfolio of games Gearbox has, we have to admit that we really got excited about this one. For those not quite familiar with the company, it is responsible for bringing all of us a lot of Half-Life and Brothers in Arms titles.
Gearbox Software was also the one responsible for the Windows port of Bungie Studios‘ Halo: Combat Evolved and Custom Edition. The company’s accomplishments also include James Bond 007: Nightfire as well as Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3.
Aside from the senior artist position, the president also mentioned that the lead coder of the project is also needing several other coders to help them out. Regarding the project’s time table, Randy Pitchford discussed:
The project won’t be completed this year, or the next. It will be in pre-production with a smaller, focused team until after both Brothers in Arms Hell’s Highway and Borderlands has shipped.
If nothing else, the information does give some insight into just how far ahead we are planning and acting.
