N+: platform differences, downloadable content
The upcoming platform ninja game from Metanet, N+, will be making its way to the Xbox 360 Live Arcade, Nintendo DS, and PlayStation Portable. It gets kind of confusing since all versions have the same name. But you can bet all three versions aren’t as identical as the name. Read the full article to find out the differences between the three versions.
N is an award winning Flash game for the PC, where you play a ninja making your way through maze-like stages. N will be making its way to Xbox Live Arcade, the Nintendo DS, and the PlayStation Portable with a plus. By that we mean it will now be called N+.
Each platform will have its differences of course. This is expounded in an interview with David Geudelekian, producer of N+ from Atari, and Mare Sheppard and Raigan Burns, co-founders of Metanet.
For the handhelds, graphics will be sharper on the PSP while the DS version will make use of its double screens for another purpose. The lower screen will act as the main window where you control your ninja, while the top screen will act as a map.
Thanks to the stylus of the DS, it will also have a level editor. Users can then share their user created maps on the game’s server. User-created maps will be ranked by a voting system so users can find out which maps are the most popular. Unfortunately, the game won’t be able to support cross-platform sharing.
Like the XBLA version, the PSP and DS versions will have more than a thousand new levels than the original N game. The XBLA will also have downloadable content available. Metanet is already “putting the finishing touches on downloadable content” for the XBLA version. Metanet is also considering DLC for the handhelds.
