Those of you who’ve played the PC version of the freeware rhythm game StepMania should be more than familiar with the mechanics of how this latest homebrew game from developer Daren works.
StepMania DS features the same button mashing rhythm-based gameplay that was originally seen on the PC game released by Chris Danford back in 2005. Since the game was released under the MIT license, the developer decided to port the popular rhythm game onto the Nintendo DS.
Daren released two version of StepMania DS, which makes use of two alternate control configurations for players to choose from when following the arrows going up the top of the screen.
The first version makes use of the directional pad assigned to each respective arrow direction in the game. On the other hand, the alternate version uses the four button pads to follow the arrows being shown on the screen.
Feel free to download either of the two versions and see which one suits your playing style more. In any case, we hope you enjoy the download.
