On Shelves This Week: February 25 to March 2, 2008
You may still be reeling with last week’s release of epic titles such as Capcom’s Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney, Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors, and other major titles, but now’s not the time to rest. This week, we’re going to have some good gaming love both for the handheld and consoles, with Patapon and Frontlines: Fuel of War, among others. It’s that day of the week once again, when gamers raid their savings and head out to their local gaming retail store outlets to get their much awaited game. This time, PSP fans will be pleased with the debut of Patapon, SCEJ‘s much-beloved rhythm game for Sony’s handheld.
It’s also a happy week for FPS fans with the arrival of Frontlines: Fuel of War and Turning Point: Fall of Liberty. There are also a lot of good things in store for all kinds of gamers, so better check out the list below and see what title catches your fancy.
Patapon. Who says war always has to be steeped in blood and violence? Pyramid and SCEJ’s rhythm game Patapon will let you take the role of a deity who leads cute, one-eyed, miniature soldiers into glory by beating “talking drums.” Don’t lose a beat, and your adorable minions will become rabid, ferocious warmongers. Pata-pata-pata pon!

Frontlines: Fuel of War. This futuristic tactical-strategic shooter will let soldiers play with several toys in their attempt to kill off the opposing team. From air strikes to drone tech, there are simply many ways to get rid the opposition in this remarkable FPS from Kaos Studios and THQ.
Turning Point: Fall of Liberty. Yes, most of us may get tired of the usual Ye Olde FPS with a generic soldier as a main protagonist. Turning Point: Fall of Liberty presents quite the welcome departure from the trend, however. Instead of the usual rogue military man , the game throws in a construction worker in the midst of total chaos, struggling to survive in an alternate universe where Winston Churchill dies before World War II.

Lost Planet: Extreme Condition. We’ve had Lost Planet in other platforms for some time now, but that doesn’t mean that we’re not going to get anything new in the game’s PlayStation 3 release. Mazes of Fate DS. The Nintendo port of the Game Boy Advance gem, Mazes of Fate, will have players take the reins of three characters (warrior, rogue, mage). Roam dungeons, travel across the overworld, and interact with the locals in cities. Aside from hunting down enemies, of course.

Naruto: Ninja Destiny. This 3D fighting game for the DS pits Naruto against other ninjas in several game modes, including story, arcade, and local multiplay modes, among others.
