Nintendo of Europe confirms text chat feature for Mario Kart Wii
It looks like we finally have an idea about the extensive online features that Nintendo has been hyping up for its upcoming racing title Mario Kart Wii. This new feature will supplement the already robust online multiplayer and voice chat options mentioned in a previous article we’ve already covered. Nintendo previously mentioned that it will be placing extensive focus on the online capabilities of its upcoming racing title Mario Kart Wii. In addition to the robust online multiplayer options and voice chat, the company also announced a new feature that will help bridge the lines of communication for players across the globe.
To support this claim, the publisher’s European subsidiary recently confirmed in an official Mario Kart Wii posting that players will actually be able to communicate with each other via text chat, even outside of matches.
The statement released by Nintendo of Europe mentions that “you can create rooms for friends to join and even text chat while you’re waiting for other racers”.
This opens the possibility of using a USB keyboard to help facilitate this proposed feature. Of course, the former option of using pre-selected messages will always be there, but it will be nice to talk to your friends and rivals in actual real time.
Anyway, we’ll just have to wait and see how Nintendo plans to develop this interesting feature in their upcoming title. Updates on Mario Kart Wii as we get them!
