Sometimes it’s better to back down from a fight. The trick is knowing when to do so. In this new journal entry from Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, an unnamed soldier relates how he failed to recognize when to back down, which almost cost him his life.
The unnamed warrior is a soldier of the Empire Army. On his way to war in Neues Emskrank, he suffered a lot of wounds. Still, he endured and held the city along with his comrades, protecting it against the forces of Chaos.
For hours he prayed to the gods, but during those hours his anger also began to seethe against the opposing army, whose gods only offered destruction. In anger he charged at the enemy ahead of his companions, forgetting his wounds.
In the end he was overpowered for it was only one man against an army. He later passed out, and woke only to find that Neues Emskrank has fallen, earning him a lesson in humility, shamed at how his selfish action cost the army his strength in arms.
