Heavy Rain details fall from Dutch mag Chief
Quantic Dream arguably raised the bar in storytelling with its Fahrenheit, and the upcoming Heavy Rain for the Sony PlayStation 3 is expected to do no less. Fortunately, details have surfaced that lead us to believe development is going along the lines we hoped it to be in. Learn more at the full article.
Since its first teaser, we’ve always had high hopes for Quantic Dream‘s Heavy Rain which promised to take realism in video games to a new level. It seems we won’t be disappointed, according to factoids of this Sony PlayStation 3 title that just surfaced.
David Cage, founder of Quantic Dream, explained that while they’re not aiming for a free-roaming city like the Grand Theft Auto series, Heavy Rain will involve heavily populated locations such as malls and subways. Gameplay will be integrated into these backdrops.
On the visuals, Cage mentioned that Sony is already impressed with how the game looks, yet developers are hard at work to go further than just creating the most photorealistic world. The game itself will push the envelope beyond what Quantic Dream’s previous title Fahrenheit did, expanding on the “new grammar” Fahrenheit introduced to adventure games.
Also similar to its earlier offering, Cage said Heavy Rain is going to feature ordinary people in extraordinary situations. He commented that as a father of two boys, he wanted the main theme to be father’s love for his son. Four distinct characters are set to take players for a ride obstructed by moral choices. Cage was quoted saying:
The question “what is good and what is evil” is the key here, that will be just a matter of viewpoint…I believe heavily in moral choices, I’m going to use them A LOT. They’re not about being good or bad, but about finding the right balance.
