GC – Games Convention 2008 still scheduled for Leipzig
Games Convention 2008 preparation is starting to churn out steam. What we hear from official press waves is that the event organizers, Leipziger Messe, is ironing out the kinks to GC 2007’s little mishaps with transportation and access. It looks like they’re pressing for another good time in Leipzig this August, and if all pulls through, we may not be seeing GC – Games Convention departing Germany’s trade show city anytime soon. More details at the full article.
In concentrated efforts to address visitors’ complaints after GC 2007, Leipziger Messe GmbH has officially announced that it has completely revamped both air and rail traffic to main routes leading to Leipzig. This is all in preparation for the GC – Games Convention 2008 event that it has slated for the city now considered a popular trade show venue.
And yes, the GC – Games Convention – the official name for the massive European gaming event – is still arriving at Leipzig, Germany, despite rumors and speculations that Leipziger Messe might move the gaming trade fair out of the city. This was after the company received notable feedback that the traffic entering and exiting the city was too congested to accommodate attendees back in GC 2007.
Now, Leipziger Messe has added six extra flight charters in and out of the city to multiple major airports in Amsterdam, Helsinki, London (Luton included), Munich, Paris (Le Bourget included), and Vienna. These flights are scheduled to depart their locations at August 19 and 20 for Leipzig, while flights headed out of the city are scheduled for August 21 and 22.
The organizers are also bringing back the GC-special rail transit service, though this time around they’re including specially-priced deals for those familiar with the Deutsche Bahn express train. They have also expanded their land transportation service by adding dedicated coach services for both visitors and members of the press.
These coaches, under the “Connect GC” project, will be stationed in more than 30 German towns and will depart for Leipzig on August 22 and 23 – just time for the final days of the fair. That’s where fun, games, and programs dot the busy fair schedule. As a refresher, the GC – Games Convention 2008 will start at August 21, a Thursday, and will last all the way up to August 24, a Sunday.
