The DS Brings Nintendo its Highest Profits in Five Years!
According to Games Industry, Nintendo’s net income has risen by 27% to 95 billion Yen which is up 8.7% on last year’s profit figure. The DS which is becoming Nintendo’s savior has now sold some six million units in Japan, and Nintendo’s stated target is to sell 10 million units in the region by the end of the year – suggesting that global sales could be as high as 30 million units, if growth continues at that rate in other territories as well.
I’m glad to see Nintendo coming back as the original NES introduced me into this life of Gaming and could not be more thankful, I’ve owned every one of their consoles that have come to these shores and still have a Virtual Boy in my closet to this day.
The DS, which has such great games as Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, Animal Crossing and Metroid Prime Hunters seems as if the games can only get better with the New Super Mario Bros. and Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass coming this year. I look forward to what Nintendo will have to offer in the next couple of years and am very willing to give them my hard earned cash.
