Sonic Chronicles - Image 1The creation of an RPG based in the Sonic the Hedgehog universe raised a lot of eyebrows at first, but, it looks like it might just work. Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood for the Nintendo DS is after all being developed by BioWare, one of the leading RPG makers in the gaming industry today.

Ray Muzyaka, the CEO of Bioware, recently spoke about the game saying that “it’s going to appeal to all ages but it’s also going to be appropriate for younger people and as a result it’s going to play differently.”

He added that it just comes with the territory and that they try to create games which will appeal to the target audience of the platform.

He pointed out that the universe has “a surprising amount of depth,” something people will notice if they were to look at the TV shows, comics, novels, and the games that have come out. Muzyaka noted that gamers will get quite a bit of backstory on the characters as they play the game. In addition, Bioware also threw in a quest which takes players around various areas in the Sonic universe further expounding on some of the regions.

The game is shaping up to be an RPG through and through. This shouldn’t turn-off gamers looking for the same fast-paced gameplay since BioWare didn’t stray too far though from the source material by adding, as Muzyaka out it, “a lot of very action-orientated elements.”
