Call of Duty 4 playable even with lesser hardware
How low can Activision and Infinity Ward‘s Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare go? In terms of hardware that can run it, that is. This was the question burning up in the minds of some tech-savvy people and they put the game to the test aboard some lower-end setups. The results they got are detailed in the full article up next.
So, you’ve always wanted to play Activision and Infinity Ward‘s excellent Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare on your PC but your system just doesn’t have the spec muscles for it? There may be hope. The guys over at PogHX tried running the game on several lower-end setups and they found out that it’s playable on even some on-board chipsets.
A Gigabyte MA78GM-S2H with an integrated 780G graphics unit and a frugal Athlon 64 X2 4450e were in the forefront of the test system for PogHX. Throwing in a GeForce 8400 into the mix, CoD4 ran at 36 frames per second on minimal settings.
Other variations were tried and the group found out that the game would still be playable on systems that could make it run on as low as 22 FPS. Of course, you’ll have to make do with rougher visuals than you’re used to seeing in the game. Below is a table that was included in the source.
