Here’s some news BioShock fans can look forward to. A recent update on the 2K Games website brings word of trophies coming to the PS3 version of BioShock. Not only that; the implementation process seems to be going swimmingly as well.
Andrew Rudson, programmer at Digital Extremes, talks about PS3 trophy implementation and even hints at some of the trophies we can get. For starters, Rudson explains that the Sony‘s trophy system does most of the work, and that the game initializes the trophy system, “and at the appropriate time, asks it to unlock Trophies.”
As for what trophies we can get, Rudson hints that you will get a trophy when you first hack a machine, as well as acquiring one when you zap a splicer in water.
Regarding the status of trophy implementation, Rudson leaves us with these words:
We’re in the final stages now, which basically just means testing that Trophies unlock when they are supposed to, and translating the descriptions of each Trophy into FIGS (French, Italian, German, and Spanish). The Trophies themselves are beautiful – kudos to the art team who made them a perfect fit for the world of Rapture on the PS3 – and seeing this system in its final testing stages is a wonderful example of how far BioShock PS3 has come over the past few months, and how hard everyone on the team has worked perfecting each new aspect of the game.
It certainly seems as if Digital Extremes is paving the way for an awesome PS3 version of BioShock, with all the bells and whistles. Keep checking QJ for more updates on BioShock for the PS3 as it becomes available.
