Mega Man 9 confirmed to be a multiplatform release, VC will get Mega Man 1 and 2
A correction: we previously reported that Capcom‘s upcoming Mega Man 9 is slated as a WiiWare exclusive, but this time, we’re happy to be proven wrong. As it turns out, the Blue Bomber will be saying hi to gamers through the WiiWare, PlayStation Network, and Xbox Live. Not only that, but Virtual Console subscribers for the Wii will get a pleasant surprise as well. More in the full article.
Now here’s something that would make the fans of the Blue Bomber happy: do you remember our previous report about Capcom‘s Mega Man 9 being a WiiWare exclusive? Well, here’s another update concerning that tidbit: Mega Man‘s latest adventure does turn out to be a multiplatform affair after all.
The game will also be available through PlayStation Network and Xbox Live.
Here are some details on the upcoming Mega Man 9: aside from the robot masters that we have mentioned in a previous article (Magma Man, Concrete Man, Splash Woman, etc.), the game will also feature 50 new enemy robots.
To spice things up even more, Mega Man 9 will include an online leaderboard system that will tally and size up every player’s performances against each other. Yes, we also agree that it’s a sweet deal.
That’s not the only bombshell that Capcom will be doling out for the Mega Man fans, however – the first two games in the series, Mega Man 1 and 2, will also be hitting the Wii’s Virtual Console service in the near future. Awesome? Yes, it is indeed.
In the meantime, watch Mega Man’s world debut trailer, featuring 8-bit cutscenes that seem to be taken from the opening sequence in the game. Play it, and let nostalgia drown you.
