Video: Dragon Ball DS may rival The Legend of Zelda Phantom Hourglass
When the scans of a new Dragon Ball game for the DS appeared sometime ago, we can’t help but wonder if this will indeed be a Dragon Ball adventure title that we’ve been waiting for. By the looks of things, Namco Bandai hasn’t let us down: Dragon Ball DS is indeed shaping up to be a good game; so good, it looks like it can even rival The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. It’s been awhile since we last heard about Namco Bandai‘s upcoming Dragon Ball DS, and we’re quite pleased to find out that the game looks good. So good, in fact, that judging from how it looks Dragon Ball DS can be actually compared to The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. Think we’re kidding? You’d better check out the video we’ve embedded below the article, then.
Everything in the game is rendered in 3D, and we even dare think that if only the Youtube video wasn’t…well, grainy (as most Youtube videos are), the graphics would come off as incredibly crisp. Controlling the main character, Son Goku, is also comparable to how Link moved about in the Phantom Hourglass, by dragging the stylus across the screen.
Some combat mechanics are also stylus-driven, such as extending Goku’s extending staff by dragging the stylus towards the general direction of his enemies, and you can even swing the elongated staff around to sweep baddies off their feet (in the wrong way). Dragon Ball DS is also filled with puzzles, and it looks like Bulma is available as a playable character.
In any case, Dragon Ball DS is certainly shaping up to be a winner. More updates as they come along!
