If things are getting a wee bit too serious to your taste and you need to diffuse it somehow, you can count on the DS homebrew scene to lighten things up a bit. Homebrew developer GEMISIS managed to come up with PrankDS, an “Application for Laughs” for Nintendo’s little handheld that could.
PrankDS already has two working pranks, a sound player (for nice sound bites such as farting sounds) and a maze game that’ll stun players with the classic shocker maneuver that involves a scary image that jumps out of the blue with the screaming noise. There’s another prank that is tagged by the homebrew developer as only “half-working,” an unsolvable maze.
Here are the instructions on how to get the game up and running:
- Download the game along with the appropriate dldi patch. (As I said, it uses FAT)
- Put the folder titled “pdsfiles” (no quotes) into the root of your homebrew device.
- Patch the game with the dldi and then put it on you device.
- Have fun
GEMISIS would also like to note that PrankDS will work in DeSmuMe v0.7.2 without the DLDI patch, provided that the game and the folder “Pdsfiles” are in the same place.
