Far Cry 2 pulls a BioShock, upsets widescreen gamers
Just like 2k Games‘ BioShock (PS3, Xbox 360) in 2007, Ubisoft did the same for Far Cry 2 (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360), cropping the 4:3 format to feign the 16:9 aspect ratio. The result? Less picture and more frustrated gamers.

The red areas in the pictures are the ones you lose due to the cropping. For a widescreen gamer, losing that much picture not only poses in-game inhibitions, it also frustrates them for not getting their money’s worth. Too bad, Far Cry 2 deserves all the picture you can get. For now, we’re still waiting for an update on whether Ubisoft will fix this problem or not.
Thanks to Paddy the Wak of Widesceen Gaming Forum for the pics!
