After more than a year in development, the sequel for the highly-acclaimed racing title Colin McRae: DiRT (PC, Xbox 360, PS3) has finally been officially announced by Codemasters.
Simply called Colin McRae: DiRT 2, the sequel will continue on the excitement of rally driving racing game, keeping the legacy alive of the late Scottish rally driver who passed away even before the release of the original title.
Says executive producer Gavin Raeburn,
Colin McRae was all about the speed, the excitement or rally driving. Later his showmanship shone through in events such as the X-games, the Dakar Rally and the Race of Champions. He could do things with a car that no one else would and that’s where we’re taking the series with new events at the extreme edge of rally and motorsport. It will be a great tribute to an incredible champion.
Colin McRae: DiRT 2 will sport an enhanced version of the EGO engine, the same one used in the impressive-looking GRID. Also featured are comprehensive and improved online modes. The sequel is scheduled to come out on a yet-to-be-specified date in 2009, and will be completing the whole course of gaming platforms: Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, DS, PSP, and PC.
