Here’s a quick update from CES 2009, straight from Major Nelson. Halo Wars‘ release date is now February 28, with a demo coming this February 5.

Previous reports slated the game for a release on March 3rd for North America, so this comes as a pleasant surprise. I just hope there wasn’t some miscommunication somewhere.

The game marks the final release from Ensemble Studios, the guys who gave us the Age of Empires franchise. The studio will be closing down once they finish work on the game.

I hope Halo Wars does well, if only for that reason alone. I’m not an RTS fan, but I have to admit that AOE was a great franchise.
