Revealed last week in Famitsu was Namco Bandai‘s portable version of the Arcade hit, Gundam: Senjo no Kizuna. So how do you cram an Arcade unit (with its panoramic 180-degree display and online matches) onto a UMD for the PSP? Well, there are some compromises, but for an on-the-go POD unit, it doesn’t get any better than this.
Today we’ve got a bulkload of screenshots that finally show us what the heck was going on in the scans from the other day. While the Arcade’s ability to host 8-vs-8 matches was reduced to 4-vs-4 for the PSP, it’s your typical fare for ad hoc mode (quite possibly, this game will support Ad Hoc Party in Japan).
First you get to set up your multiplayer match on the Multi-Mode screen. Set the rules, choose your battle arena, the works. After that, you choose your Mobile Suit (whether Federation or Zeon) and then plot out your starting point in the map. Click the thumbs to enlarge!
The battle begins and it’s in first-person mode – just like how it’s done in the Arcade. The two gauges on the left side of the screen show the progress of your team. Whoever gets their gauge shot down loses. Meanwhile, the D-Pad can also be used for chatting purposes. After the game, you can watch a replay of the match from various standpoints.
Next up, the Mobile Suits. Each class type is split into two, the Federation Mobile Suit (left) and another for the Zeon faction (right).
Close Battle Type: 0-100m
Short Distance Battle Type: 0-180m
Medium Distance Support Type: 200-500m
Long Distance Shelling Type: 400-700m
