Star Trek DAC is a top-down multiplayer, more details
Unusual enough for a movie-based video game, Star Trek: D.A.C. won’t be tying into the story of the upcoming Star Trek reboot flick. In fact, it doesn’t even have a story. The game will be all top-down, multiplayer space battles. Sorta like a multiplayer Geometry Wars.
Details after the link.
Unusual enough for a movie-based video game, Star Trek: D.A.C. won’t be tying into the story of the upcoming Star Trek reboot flick. In fact, it doesn’t even have a story.
At GDC it was revealed that Star Trek: D.A.C. will be all top-down, multiplayer space battles. Sorta like a multiplayer Geometry Wars. The only things it will take from the movie are starship designs, music, and sound effects.
The game will break players up into squads of six. You can choose to be either Federation or Romulan. You can also pick from a variety of classes, namely you can choose to pilot a nimble fighter, super-fast bomber, or flagship.
Unlike Super Stardust, nothing will be locked in the beginning. You’ll be able to choose any of the game’s modes right from the start. Each of the modes will allow you to play certain maps.
The game will be released this May on Xbox Live in time for the movie’s release. Unfortunately, and my lack of surprise notwithstanding, the PlayStation Network version will be released a little later – though not as late as next year.
