Hang Up And Drive – Or Not
People talking on cell phones while driving cause an inordinate number of traffic accidents, and increasingly, states are passing laws requiring people to pull over and stop the vehicle before engaging in cell phone conversations.
In response to this, several manufacturers have been coming up with ways that allow “hands-free” operation of cell phones. The Utah company Zeal Optics has probably come up with the ultimate hands-off device yet invented, using Bluetooth wireless technology to combine a cell phone with stylish – dare I even say “sexy”? – eyewear.
The lightweight frame has a fully adjustable and removable earpiece. The lenses are photochromatic UV activated, adjusting their darkness to the level of outdoor light. They are also interchangeable, allowing the user to have prescription lenses, if desired.
The Confidant Bluetooth was just made available the weekend of 15 April, and retails for $250 – a small price for those who want to chat in safety while they on the road.
