Ubisoft: Red Steel 2’s MotionPlus-only controls a “huge risk”
Red Steel 2 looks good so far. Admittedly, that assessment’s based only on the little bits of it we’ve seen, but on paper, the game definitely seems like a step up from the original. Despite the generally good hype surrounding it, though, the mandatory inclusion of MotionPlus is making the developers a bit nervous. Creative director Jason Vandenberghe even admits that it’s a rather risky move.

Despite the generally good hype surrounding it, the mandatory inclusion of MotionPlus is making the developers a bit nervous. Creative director Jason Vandenberghe even admits that it’s a rather risky move:
It’s a huge risk. We have no idea what the penetration rate for Wii MotionPlus will be. We assume high. We would like it to be high. I would love to say to you that it’ll be compatible with just a regular controller, but the gameplay simply isn’t there without MotionPlus. That core experience just isn’t there without it.
Nintendo‘s MotionPlus add-on seems to have enough of a buzz surrounding it to put Ubisoft‘s fears to rest, though. What do you guys think?
