After much waiting, torrent-scanning, and news-watching, Apple has finally released iPhone OS 3.0. The new OS supports internet tethering, stereo Bluetooth audio, and a number of features that you may also want to know about.
Features:
- Peer-to-peer gaming support
- Third-party game accessory support
- Push notification
- Internet tethering
- Stereo Bluetooth audio
- MMS messaging
- Cut, copy & paste
- Spotlight search
- Landscape keyboard in Mail, Messages, Notes and Safari
The upgrade is not only a major overhaul of the previous iPhone operating system, it’s also a ramp-up for the gaming capabilities of the iPhone and iPod Touch. With peer-to-peer gaming and game accessory support, the iPhone markets itself more as a gaming platform now than it used to.
iPhone users may avail of the upgrade for free, while iPod Touch users will have to cough up US$ 9.95 for theirs. The new iPhone 3G S will also come with the new firmware, so there won’t be a need to download if you’re planning to get one.
