Amidst all this talk about price cuts and whatnot, UK retailers have reported that the exact opposite will be happening to Xbox 360 Arcades sold in the region. Not only is the price going up, it’s getting stripped of some its features too, particularly the XBLA games bundled with the system.

Eurogamer reports that according to ShopTo boss Igor Cipolletta, the official word of the price increase came from Microsoft. A source from an independent retail chain also reportedly corroborated Cipolletta’s statements.

The price hike will commence on September 1st, pushing the Arcade model up from UK£ 129.99 (US$ 212) to UK£ 159.99 (US$ 261). Aside from the price increase, the Arcade model will no longer come with the five XBLA games. The price of individual Xbox 360 accessories are also going up by one or two pounds.

According to Eurogamer’s independent source, Microsoft is instituting the price hike to counteract the low pound-to-Euro exchange rate.
