Namco Bandai announces Majin: The Fallen Realm for PS3, Xbox 360
I just gotta ask: what is up with Namco Bandai these days? First there was God Eater, which apparently grew out of the Monster Hunter womb. Now they’ve announced Majin: The Fallen Realm, a co-op adventure starring a young hero and his giant pet. Guess what it bears a resemblance to.

The whole young hero with a giant monster pet has been done before, but the art style is definitely a throwback to The Last Guardian. Even the gameplay feels a bit similar.
In Majin, players control a young thief as he tries to solve puzzles and overcome obstacles with the help of his AI-controlled pet rock monster (the titular Majin). Namco Bandai also promises a bit of stealth gameplay, seeing as how the hero is agile but weak, so he presumably has to sneak around a lot. At the other end of the spectrum, Majin is slow but powerful. This one seems to be a lot more action-oriented than the Team ICO title, though.
Majin: The Fallen Realm is currently being developed by Game Republic for PS3 and Xbox 360. It’s slated for an early 2010 release. Here’s the announcement trailer:
