First swine flu case confirmed from PAX 2009
Uh-oh! I hope our friends from Left4Friends didn’t catch this. PAX sources are now reporting that they do have a confirmed case of the H1N1 virus (commonly but misleadingly known as Swine Flu) from their recently-concluded Washington event.
Uh-oh! I hope our friends from Left4Friends didn’t catch this. PAX sources are now reporting that they do have a confirmed case of the H1N1 virus (commonly but misleadingly known as Swine Flu) from their recently-concluded Washington event.
The official PAX twitter says as much:
Just heard of our first test-confirmed swine flu case at the show. PLEASE if you feel symptoms (fever, etc) go to the doctor.
But I was invited!
Said Penny Arcade‘s Robert Khoo, “This is the real thing. If you get this number of people together in this close a proximity it is the perfect storm for these kind of wild fire virus spreads. We just want to make sure everyone is informed.”
The reported case of the virus was revealed by Kho to be on a Boston-based game developer, confirmed by contacting the virus with a doctor. He then immediately contacted PAX to inform the officials of is infection.
If you were in the event, please make sure to be alert as to the following symptoms: fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. That’s 60,000-plus estimated attendees. You can’t be too careful in that kind of crowd.
