TGS 09: More Final Fantasy Versus XIII info from Tetsuya Nomura
Despite announcing an FF-clad lineup after packing its bags for TGS 09, Square Enix didn’t include Final Fantasy Versus XIII on that list. Famitsu was covering the action in Tokyo when Tetsuya Nomura showed the world what he has been busy with. Good news for us, more details about the PS3-exclusive part of Fabula Nova Crystallis coming our way.

During his presentation, Nomura surprised audiences with a video – not just any video or some teaser, it was the first actual gameplay footage for Versus XIII. We may not have the video for you guys right now, but thanks to Famitsu, we do have what Nomura said about it.
Nomura pointed out that the video footage was not from a development version, but it was more of a technology test. He went a bit further on what they were testing out, but another purpose for the vid was to appease fans who’ve been hungry for updates that have gone dry.
One scene from the video saw Noctis walking around during different times of the day. Nomura explained that it was a test to see how far they can go with the day-and-night transition and how much they can differentiate scenes from the two.
Then there was the scene with the fields. Nomura mentioned that the environment was completed in two weeks. Unlike in Final Fantasy XIII, where environments were futuristic and high tech-looking, Versus will have more natural landscapes.
The interview goes on and on – we’ll have to catch more translations from that Famitsu issue in the coming days. In the meantime, you can also check the source, AndriaSang, for more info.
