Although Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed 2 (PS3 and Xbox 360) has more or less gotten the approving nod of critics all over, some people are pointing out what they deem to be a flaw in the game’s introduction. The complaint: it’s too slow.
Game writer Corey May, however, justifies the slow pace of the introduction as he sits down for an interview with VG247. He said that “it was necessary to spend time with Ezio as a carefree adolescent” for gamers to have a clearer picture of how he was before he entered the world of Assassins. He does concede, however, that maybe they could have “refiined the sequence so that it either moved faster or provided the player with more action-oriented activities.”
Still, he maintains firm in the position that the introduction must be more than just the token five minutes. Because for him, it is “the idea of beginning of the game” is what’s most important.
