When you’re taking a trip down the nine circles of hell and slaughtering demons while you’re at it, the last thing you want is a bunch of lengthy load screens to ruin the fun. In an interview with ThatVideoGameBlog, Dante’s Inferno executive producer and creative director Jonathan Knight reveals that the game will not have any load screens.
“One of the cool things about the game is that it never goes black, it never says loading the next level,” Knight said. “It’s really a continuous decent down the nine circles. You really feel like you’re making this physical journey.”
From one circle to the next, there’s a decent sequence where Dante’s using ropes and he’s basically spelunking and rappelling down the cliffs. Those are sequences that I think really kind of mix up the gameplay. There are environmental puzzles. There are bosses. There are sub-bosses. We just really wanted it to always be mixed up so that there’s a pretty good variety in the gameplay.
True enough, every gamer would know that loading screens can be quite the buzzkill, especially when you to move along the game pronto. One example would be, say, Bayonetta, which just released a patch that enables HDD installation to alleviate the issue. It’s not that big of a deal, but still, the info’s good to know.
