It’s been the quiet talk of the town for a while now, and finally, Sony’s saying something about their alleged plan to start charging for the PSN. It’s definitely something they’re “looking at.”

In a chat with IGN, senior VP of marketing Peter Dille stated, “It’s been our philosophy not to charge for [the PSN] from launch up until now, but [chairman and group chief executive officer of SCE] Kaz [Hirai] recently went on the record as saying that’s something we’re looking at.”

To further drive down that nail with the hammer of (almost certain) finality, he said, “I can confirm that as well. That’s something we’re actively thinking about.” Great, so they’re nto just “thinking about it”, they’re actively thinking about it.

Nothing’s set in stone yet, apparently, as even he concedes that he doesn’t know yet what Sony will be charging for or it will even come to fruition.

“What’s the best way to approach that if we were to do that? You know, no announcements at this point in time, but it’s something we’re thinking about.”

What are you thinking about what they’re thinking about?
