Isn’t it great how DLC can be used to further advance a game’s plot? Valve’s doing just that with upcoming downloadable content for both Left 4 Dead and its sequel. In the latest episode of GTTV, Valve’s Chet Faliszek revealed that one of the original four survivors won’t be a survivor for long.
Left 4 Dead 2‘s The Passing scenario has players meeting up with the survivors from the original, but apparently one of the Left 4 Dead cast won’t be present, hence the “Nobody Survives Forever” tagline. This missing member will reportedly sacrifice him or herself in the Left 4 Dead DLC to be released after The Passing.
While Left 4 Dead players can choose who gets to make the sacrifice for the greater good, Valve is also putting out a comic book that details the canon version — in other words, who the developers chose to die for storyline purposes. The comic will be released in the time between the two DLC packs.
