Burnout/Plantronics Headset: First Impressions
Are you one of the people that won a Burnout/Plantronics headset from the 21 Days of Carnage contest? If so you should be receiving your headset as I just received mine yesterday. I decided to try it out for a day before giving some of my impressions of it. The headset looks to be a custom version of the new Plantronics X30 headset that you can pick up at retails stores now so should be the same quality.
Once I opened up the package I couldn’t really figure out how to put the headset over my ear as it has a “fits in place” type design. Once I finally figured out how to get it on I booted up my 360 and started chatting with a few of my friends on the dashboard.
On the dashboard and with 360 games the sound is nice and crisp; overall it’s a great headset, but while playing “original xbox games” the sound is even worse than with the normal headset. A bunch of the guys sent over a Halo 2 invite like they usually do and I decided to accept to try out the new headset. The sound was so scratchy it was not understandable and I had to switch back to the other headset.
Overall it is a pretty good headset (especiallty if you didn’t have to pay for it) just not with original Xbox games and since it should be the same headset that was released recently with some cosmetic changes I’d recommend it if your looking for a different way to chat with your friends and tired of the same old headset.
