Capcom net profits fall 73%
A lot of things didn’t go right for Capcom over the last few months. With big delays and lackluster sales, the publisher reports that they suffered a 73.1% drop on their net income.
A lot of things didn’t go right for Capcom over the last few months. With big delays and lackluster sales, the publisher reports that they suffered a 73.1% drop on their net income.
It’s all down across the three major regions – The North American arm is down 49.6%, Europe’s fell 44%, and it’s 42.2% in Asia.
One of the two biggest reasons for the plunge is the delay of Lost Planet 2 and Super Street Fighter IV, which pretty much meant that they relied on Resident Evil 5 for sales. Another reason was that Dark Void and Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles failed to meet expectations sales-wise.
What compensated somewhat for the disappointing outcome is Capcom’s figures from Japan. Despite being down 14.9% over there, Monster Hunter Tri, Resident Evil 5, Sengoku Basara Battle Heroes and Ace Attorney Investigations all showed some strength in the sales – that’s, of course, along with the ever-successful Japanese favorite Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G.
