Castlevania puzzler headed for App Store

Castlevania is making the jump to iPhone and iPod Touch. The familiar platforming mechanic is largely gone, though, replaced by a new puzzle/RPG system tailored specifically for Apple handhelds.

Castlevania is making the jump to iPhone and iPod Touch. The familiar platforming mechanic is largely gone, though, replaced by a new puzzle/RPG system tailored specifically for Apple handhelds.

The gameplay in the upcoming title, called Castlevania Puzzle: Encore of the Night, bears a similarity to Puzzle Quest. Players solve block-based puzzles to acquire weapons and spells to aid them in their quest.

The main character is Alucard, although players can also choose to play as or against characters from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.
