Nintendo to promote Dragon Quest IX Tag Mode in the US

Dragon Quest IX‘s Chance Encounter feature was such a big hit in Japan that it even hit the Guinness gamer records as the “most popular ad hoc wireless game feature”. Renamed as the Tag Mode for the Western releases, the game’s social WiFi feature will be getting a good round of promotion for the US market.

Nintendo started giving Tag Mode more publicity with treasure map events back at the San Diego Comic-Con, and that’s going to continue in selected retailer outlets across the United States, so those who didn’t make it to SDCC can still join in on the Tag Mode action.

On July 31st, the Zoma map will be made available at GameStop outlets, while the Estark map will be placed in Best Buy stores on August 7th. To cap it all off, from August 17th to September 19th, Nintendo of America will hold sampling events in specific malls across the country where yet another map will be handed out.
