Peter Molyneux has got high hopes for the third iteration of their Fable franchise. As high as five million people, in fact.
“We want more than five million people playing Fable III on the Xbox 360, full stop,” said the Lionhead boss in an interview with MCV. “Part of the plan is less clutter in the game, less aggravating little inventions that Peter Molyneux once thought was a good idea. More clarity, better story, better cast, better balance.”
Looking back at the success of the first two iterations, five million is looking to be feasible enough, what with all the hype surrounding Fable III. After all, the original Fable moved some 3 million units, while the follow-up title to that, Fable II, sold some 3.5 million. It’s a steady climb for the title, and hopefully, this streak will continue to get better with this third one.
Fable III comes out October 26 in NA, and October 29 in the UK — for the Xbox 360. Still no word on when the new release date for the delayed PC version is.
