Report: Apple prepping over 90 million phone 16 modules for 2024 only

Bloomberg’s Debby Wu, Takashi mochizuki, Yuan Gao, and others write:
Apple Inc. plans to ship 90 million iPhone 16s in the second half of this year. The company is counting on AI services as a way to boost demand for its new line-up after a turbulent 2023.
A person familiar with the situation said that the company told its suppliers and partners it was targeting a 10% increase in shipments of the new iPhones when compared to their predecessors. This is after shipping 81 million iPhone 15s during the second half 2023.
Apple Intelligence will be available on all iPhone 16 models, but not on the iPhone 15. The iPhone 15 is still the flagship model of last year, so it is unlikely that you’ll get Apple Intelligence on your iPhone 15 unless you have the Pro or Pro Max. Apple Intelligence is expected to be included in all iPhone 16 models. Bloomberg also points to China as a factor that may have contributed to the significant increase this year. The article notes:
According to Counterpoint Research and government data, the iPhone will also have a slow start in China until 2024. Apple’s iconic handsets have seen a strong rebound in demand since April. This is partly due to a flurry discounts, especially in the lead-up to “618”, or the June 18 national shopping event.
