Apple’s Tim Cook, and Eddy Cue, have returned to the annual Allen & Company Sun Valley Retreat. This retreat is known for being a place where billionaires do significant deals. Tim Cook has been a regular since 2011, and apart from the COVID year, he’s been to every retreat. Apple’s senior Vice President of Services Eddy Cue began attending the retreat in 2013, but it wasn’t until 2018 and 2019 that they discussed deals for Apple TV+. Jeff Bezos bought the Washington Post at Sun Valley Week. Disney also made the deal to get ABC there, which in retrospect hasn’t served them very well. Disney CEO Bob Iger also criticized writers at this retreat of billionaires for striking in order to get paid. Some writers weren’t striking for better pay; they were striking just to get paid. Iger’s comment was not only tone-deaf but also rare. Sun Valley attendees rarely speak. We won’t know what Tim Cook and Eddy Cue will be discussing, if anything at all. What we can tell is that they have a lot to share with one particular attendee. Sam Altman, from OpenAI, was spotted arriving in a golf cart at the retreat. According to Entrepreneur, Bob Iger will be back, along with many other notables, including Shari Redstone from Paramount, former Activision Blizzard chief executive Bobby Kotick and New England Patriots’ owner Robert Kraft.
