In the Photos software, apps 18 introduces a new method for recovering lost or damaged photos and videos.

Apple iOS 18 adds a way to recover corrupted or lost media
Apple’s new feature will soon allow users to recover damaged or lost photos. Here’s how beta testers can test it now. Apple has started testing a new feature for its iOS 18 beta – a “Recovered album” that shows users lost or damaged photos. The new feature is part of the upcoming redesign of the Photos app. Apple claims that devices running iOS 18, iPadOS 18 or macOS Sequoia can automatically detect damaged or lost photos and videos. Once they are identified, users can permanently delete them or restore them to their Photos library. The article also mentions that photos and videos may be lost for a variety of reasons. These include database corruption or photos that were not saved correctly after being taken. The “Recovered album” will only appear on the user’s device, if there are images that are not in the Photos library. The album will not appear if you don’t have any corrupted or missing images. Apple’s iOS 18 update includes a new media recovery tool as well as a few new features for its Photos app. This includes a new Clean Up tool that allows users to select items within an image and remove them using Apple’s AI software on the device.
