Sony Presents The First Blu-Ray Enabled Notebook
If you’re planning to purchase a notebook computer this summer, the Sony Corporation is hoping you’ll check out its new VAIO®AR, which is first notebook with the ability to play Blu-Ray High-Definition discs.
The AR Premium has a 17″ WUXGA widescreen LCD display with a resolution of 1920 X 1200 pixels. If that’s not enough for you, this model includes an HDMI™ connector and cable for easy connection to an HD television. Another feature, which will appeal to budding filmmakers, is the ability to save high-res video files taken with an HD camcorder to a Blu-Ray disc. Basically, one can shoot, edit and create a final product with one machine. “The VAIO AR has the ability to capture, edit and record in HD on a notebook PC right out of the gate,” states Mike Abary, V.P. of VAIO product marketing. “Combined with unsurpassed storage capability our new Blu-ray Disc enabled notebook computer offers users with limitless creative possibilities.”
This machine will ship with a GeForce®Go 7600 Graphics card with 256 MB of video memory, as well as an on-board camera and microphone for online chat sessions. It should hit stores in the U.S. sometime in July or August, and will retail for around $3500 USD.
