Rawr! Sony smash PS3 Rumors!
Sony have dismissed rumours about their cheaper 20GB PS3 today. Previous rumours about the 20GB version included not having Bluetooth support, and the 20GB hard drive not being upgradeable. Sony have came at the rumor mill with all guns blazing, with a Sony spokesperson telling GamesIndustry.biz that “Both configurations will support bluetooth PS3 controllers. The only non-upgradeable feature of the 20GB configuration will be the HDMI output.”
This confirms comments made by Sony’s Phil Harrison in a recent interview, where he stated: “You can upgrade to whatever size of drive you like. You can put in any drive that you like – it is a computer, after all.” The Sony spokesperson also went on to reveal that Sony plans to release accessories for the PS3 that will bring it up to the spec of the 60GB version. Plans for a Wi-Fi adaptor, and a separate adaptor that will allow the use of memory sticks, SD cards and compact flash cards with the machine are in the pipeline.
Sony still haven’t commented on whether or not the 20GB PS3 will be coming to the UK. Personally, I don’t mind whether it does or not. For me, the 60GB version is the only choice.
