Elephants from Apple’s Immersive Video Series ‘Wild Life
Apple has released more Immersive video content for the Apple Vision Pro. Series and films put the viewer right in the middle of action. Apple Immersive Video is a major draw for the Apple Vision Pro headset. However, the content available to users is not very extensive. Apple announced Thursday that it will be adding more content to the format. The lineup starts with Boundless – a new series that offers viewers once-in-a lifetime trips. The series will begin on July 18 with “Hot Air Balloons”, which allows viewers to float above Cappadocia in Turkey. In the fall, the series will feature “Arctic Surfing”, with surfers searching for wintry waves at the Arctic Circle. The next episode of Wild Life, which will air in August, will feature footage of orphaned African elephants being cared by keepers at Kenya’s Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. In 2024, the show follows divers in the Bahamas as they come face-to-face against apex predators. Elevated is a travel show based on aerial views. The first episode will be released in September. The first episode will feature the volcanoes, waterfalls and crisp New England autumn. Submerged, the first scripted film captured with Apple Immersive Video, will arrive this fall. The film, written and directed by Academy Award winner Edward Berger will show sailors aboard World War II subs trying to survive torpedo attacks. The content will also include releases based on events. The first release will be footage from the NBA All-Star Weekend in 2024, which will include the famous Slam Dunk Contest. The Weeknd, a musical artist, will also create an immersive experience which will premiere in 2024. Red Bull: Big Wave Surfing will be available for action sports fans to watch. This is a surfing competition where surfers attempt to ride the barrels of the world’s heaviest waves off the coast of Teahupo’o in Tahiti. Apple has announced that it will capture and release more shows, films and concerts in Apple Immersive Video during the year. Apple Immersive Video footage is 8K with a 180 degree field of view and Spatial Audio. The format is unique and has even been created with a BlackMagic design camera and workflow.
