Laureen Powell-Jobs, a businesswoman and philanthropist, has spent $70 million to buy a century-old mansion on Billionaires Row in San Francisco. The 17,300-square foot home is 17 meters square. Powell Jobs is the widow of Steve Jobs and she is well-known for her work with the Emerson Collective. She also owns The Atlantic magazine. She’s now set the record for purchasing the most expensive property in San Francisco. According to The Real Deal, Powell Jobs owns 2840 Broadway Street located in the Pacific Heights area of the city. The sale was private, and although it set a record, the $70m she paid is still significantly less than the $100m price the previous owners demanded. The previous owners bought the property for $33million in 2011. It’s a four story Spanish Renaissance Revival Mansion that Architecture Digest has called “the most beautiful home in America.” The house has a four-story glass wall on the north side, and a two-story courtyard covered in glass. Powell Jobs can see the Golden Gate Bridge from there. The fact that the house was within walking distance to not one, but two Apple Stores was doubtless a factor in the asking price. Apple Chestnut Street and Apple Union Square staff will likely be seeing her at Today at Apple sessions.
